Matt

Early on, Matt recognized that his passion for outdoor endurance triathlon/ multi-sports and Boxing were equally matched by his desire to learn about the human body’s performance bio-mechanics, training techniques, and nutritional requirements. Before joining the Military Matt took nine months to back pack across the United States before entering Basic Training. After starting out his career as a paratrooper in the US Army Ranger Battalion, he was appointed as a Battalion Combatives Instructor and Master Fitness Trainer and he lead the rehabilitation physical training for injured personnel and expecting female soldiers.

Matt acted as the Physical Training Readiness NCO for deploying soldiers, and later changed his job specialty to become a combat medic. Matt finished his 10 years of military service as a Black Hawk Med-Evac Flight Medic.

Matt's military fitness education began at the US Army medical training facility at Ft. Bragg where he earned the Department of Defense’s only official physical training certifications, the title of US Army Master Fitness Trainer and the “Train the Trainer” Master Fitness Trainer Certificate. He was then selected to attend the Special Operations Combat Medic program at Ft. Bragg. There he received advanced training in nutritional guidelines, dietary planning, and rehabilitation, as well as training with foreign and domestic units and agencies in international medical practices, physical therapy techniques, and fitness regiments.

Some Personal accomplishments for Matt include competing and winning the Perimeter Challenge (a 60 mile adventure race) dubbed the “Military Eco-Challenge”, twice winning the Army 10 Miler  and fighting for and coaching the 82nd Airborne Championship Boxing Team to 14 Army Boxing Champions. He is the only lower enlisted to have ever coached and won two consecutive All American Army Boxing Championships. His actions, accomplishments, and dedication have earned him multiple awards, medals and certificates from the Military as well as the respect of his peers and teammates in his field. Matt also received an award from the Joint Chief of Staff for his test training and development of the Future Force Warrior Human Bio Mechanics System & the Warfighter Physiological Status Monitor (WPSM) Subsystem.

In addition to his military accomplishments, Matt has free climbed 4 of the 7 of the Oheo Gulch Seven Pools, placed in the finals for State Wrestling Championships, surfed all 8 of the Hawaiian Islands, competing in numerous civilian events, like the Escape from Alcatraz and NSW Super Frog triathlon, trained Homeland security and federal law enforcement in defensive tactics and conditioning, developed deploying military units fitness programs and developed classes for some of the US’s most popular Health Clubs.

Matt's training experience encompasses a wide range of clientele- from 5 year olds in non-profit after school programs to fortune 500 company CEOs. He was assigned while on active duty as an on-set consultant for Columbia Pictures' "Black Hawk Down", setting up and instructing actors' boot camps and team work drills to assure the authenticity of the movie. In addition, Matt was the Medical Survival Expert for the Lifetime Channel show “What Should You Do?” which was chosen by Oprah Winfrey as one of her favorite television programs. Matt has also been seen on the Discovery Channel, CNN, the Military Channel, G4TV, and the History Channel. Most recently Matt’s bio and likeness were used to create the character Matt Beasley in the Tom Clancy video game Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.
