Operation Help Haiti:

With the recent devastation in Haiti, Veteran Training has been considering what we could do to help when our own team-mate Brian Fountaine called us up and sent us information about our a new project. The Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital is accepting donations of unused prosthetic arms and legs for victims of the Haiti earthquake. The need is great because of the number of people who have lost limbs, and the cost of providing these prosthetics in the hemisphere’s poorest country.

So, with the help of Brian Fountaine, Teresa Hayes and John Griffin, lead prosthetist at Orthopedic Rehabilitation Systems at the hospital, people are able to donate unused prosthetics. The donated limbs will be refurbished and distributed to help improve the quality of life for amputees.

Brian took the initiative and led the way to make this his project a reality, and without any fanfare (though the local news station did catch him as we we’re sneaking out the backdoor while they were covering another thoughtful donor’s story) was able to collect more than $10,000 dollars worth of artifical limbs, sockets andknee joints to donate for this month’s Veteran Training mission. We are honored to have him as a friend & teammate and proud to be associated with his efforts.

If you know of anyone interested in donating an unused prosthetic limb… you can contact us here at info@veterantraining.org or if you would like to more about our non-profit programs through Veterans in Service, please follow our link found at the bottom of the page .

* A little known fact is the 82nd Airborne has kept paratroopers in year-long rotations in Haiti for more than a decade to help in hospitals and food bank distribution centers. An area of experience we here at Veteran Training know first-hand have heard about in stories from numerous Medics, Soldiers, and Marines over there.

Breaking Our Own Rules:

The one thing Veteran Training has never done is put up testimonials or the standard before or after pictures. Because we always have someone every month in a group boot camp in Pembroke or an individual training member in Norwell lose a lot of weight in Scituate or marshfield.
 “Have you seen…so and so.?”

For some 30 or 40 pounds lost can be a norm…. maybe doubling a race time or simply dropping down 5 or 6 sizes.

Why change now? Well to be honest…. most gyms and company programs use them as marketing tools and we feel that is just cheesy.

But after looking through this years member folders… one person stood out for their personal achievements and we felt we should bend the rules today. Weight loss, daily multiple Pembroke fitness sessions and also a near perfect attendance this year.

Which we can’t even say anything… we gave them the days off to rest and stretch.

So we have decided to simply say to Donna from Pembroke…

Good Job.
We appreciate your hard work, dedication and motivation. With 82 pounds lost, monthly races run, and a year of daily double sessions. It’s amazing to think where you started and where you will be next year.
Your an inspiration to all of us,

Your friends from Veteran Training.
