Why Do You Keep Running?

You have to wonder at times what you’re doing out there. Over the years, I’ve given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement.

Take a look in the mirror: Tips From the Duxbury Personal Training Company

Yet another reason to start exercising: Working out — sporadically or regularly — significantly improves your body image..

Tired of looking in the mirror and not liking what you see? Start doing some kind — any kind — of exercise. Researchers at the University of Florida found that people who engaged in nearly any level of exercise enjoyed a significant boost in their positive feelings about their body, even if they only exercised every now and again and weren’t particularly fit. While you will need to work out regularly to make changes to your fitness level and overall weight, even a little bit of exercise (once or twice a week) will provide a psychological lift.

How to Start Getting Motivated to Lose Weight Loss: Tips From the Norwell Personal Trainer

Out Military Fitness Experts know that the mind is a powerful thing. But it’s more true than you may think— you can train your mind to visualize success, just as you can train your body to achieve it! And when you’re stuck in a slump, it helps to know you have the ability — however subconscious — to do something about it! Here are some ways to tap into your Soldier:

  • Put it on paper. Write down what you want. Want to Get a perfect Physical Fitness Test Score? Is it to fit into your size 6 jeans? Reduce your cholesterol by 15 points? To complete five full push-ups or a 40-mile bike ride? Get it down on paper and then post it on your bulletin board or slip it in your wallet so you see it every day. It’ll be a constant reminder of what you want to accomplish!
  • Say it out loud. Tell your relatives, friends, coworkers, and most important, yourself about your goal. Create a mantra (I will drop 10 percent of my body weight by spring!) and talk about it often. Revealing your desires will give you the confidence to believe in yourself — and others the chance to encourage you along the way.
  • Shut off negative thoughts. When doubts start creeping in, stop them dead in their tracks by repeating your goals, turning the negative into a positive (nope, you’re not too tired to walk the final mile!), or simply finding a way to distract yourself (call a friend to talk about an unrelated topic like an upcoming vacation!). Next thing you know, you’ll be showing serious results!
